Memcached is a famous memory caching platform, which can accelerate the speed and the overall performance of your websites significantly if they use a database or an API. This is achieved by caching the calls to the database/API and the responses that are delivered, so if a visitor searches for a certain product on your website, for example, the database won’t have to be accessed to show the results and the whole procedure will be carried out significantly faster. This is valid for all sorts of database-driven applications and not only for online shops, as every time a particular web page is accessed, the application sends a request to its database to fetch the data that should be shown. With Memcached, not only will your site open much faster, but it will also produce much less server load. If any content in the database is updated, the cached replies will also be updated, so the website visitors won’t see any out-of-date info.
Memcached in Website Hosting
If you host script-driven sites in a website hosting account with our company, you’ll be able to add Memcached to your shared web hosting package with only a couple of clicks of the mouse through your Hepsia Control Panel. The upgrade will be available instantly and, since the extension needed for it is pre-installed on our avant-garde cloud hosting platform, you can begin using it right away. To give you more versatility, we offer two different upgrades related to the number of instances (i.e. how many Internet sites will use Memcached) and to the memory that the Memcached caching system will use. The latter is available in increments of 16 megabytes and you can order memory as many times as you like. Logically, the more memory Memcached is allowed to use, the more data it will cache, so in case you’ve got a large-scale site with lots of data, you may need more memory so as to be able to take advantage of the power that Memcached can give you.
Memcached in Semi-dedicated Servers
You can get the Memcached data caching system as an optional upgrade with each of our semi-dedicated servers and since it works with any script-driven application, you can use it for every website that you host on our semi-dedicated servers, irrespective of what app you have used – Joomla, WordPress or Mambo, a custom-built one, etc. You can request the upgrade via the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel from which you manage your semi-dedicated server account, and you can choose two separate things – the number of instances and the amount of memory that they will use. To put it simply, these things specify the number of the websites that will use the Memcached system and how much memory the system will be able to use in order to cache your info. The two features are ordered independently for more freedom and one instance does not come with a fixed amount of memory. You can make use of Memcached with any sort of site and both you and your website visitors will swiftly distinguish the difference in the overall performance.
Memcached in VPS Servers
Memcached is available by default with all VPS servers ordered with our in-house developed Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The PHP extension it needs so as to function properly is compiled when the virtual server is configured, so you can begin using the content caching platform the moment your brand-new server is up and running. The memory that the Memcached platform can employ depends on the given Virtual Private Server plan, but even with the lower-end ones, you’ll get several hundred megabytes that will be at your disposal only for this platform. This will allow you to optimize the performance of multiple websites hosted on the VPS simultaneously and to reduce the load even if you run resource-hungry script-based sites with plenty of users. The Memcached platform can be used with any script – Joomla, Mambo or Drupal, or a custom script, and you will distinguish the better performance soon after you start using it.
Memcached in Dedicated Servers
Memcached comes free of charge with all dedicated servers that we’re offering and the one and only requirement is that the dedicated server must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel. You can use the object caching system for any database-powered website, including those that are based on widely used web-based applications – for instance, a WordPress personal weblog or a Joomla-driven community website. Each server comes with a different amount of memory that the Memcached caching system can use, but the minimum you’ll get is three gigabytes, which is sufficient enough to enhance the load speed of extremely large sites substantially, as this memory will be dedicated to storing the cached content. The Memcached system will start storing content once it is enabled, so soon after that, you will observe the improved overall performance of your sites and the decreased load. Many Internet sites use the Memcached caching system to enhance their effectiveness, among them popular ones like Wikipedia and Reddit.
