A catch-all email mailbox receives email messages sent to invalid email addresses under the same domain. For example, an email message sent to the misspelled [email protected] will go to [email protected] if the catch-all feature has been enabled for the latter. In this way, you can receive email messages from buddies or customers who may have sent a message to your email address with a typographical error or to an out-of-date one, which they may still have, but you have already deleted. Only one single mailbox per domain name can be a catch-all one and email forwarding cannot be activated for such a mailbox. This is so because of the fact that at a certain moment you may start receiving spam email messages in the catch-all mailbox and the forwarding limitation means that the spam will not be delivered to a third-party mailbox.
Catch-all Emails in Website Hosting
In case you’ve got a website hosting with us and you’d like to enable the catch-all feature for a particular mailbox that you have in the hosting account, it’ll take literally just one click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel to do that. A catch-all button is available on the right-hand side of each email address that you have created under any domain name hosted in your account. You can select one address per domain by clicking the corresponding button. This will activate the feature straight away, so all emails sent to mistyped email addresses will be re-sent there. Clicking on the button for a second time will turn off the catch-all feature. If you’ve got enabled email forwarding, our system will display a cautionary message and you won’t be able to activate the catch-all feature unless you remove the forwarding or you can simply pick a different mailbox to be the catch-all one.
