An access log features a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while browsing your site. The list is detailed, so if you have a page with two embedded images, for example, all of the three files will be in the log, not only the page. An access log usually contains the date, the OS, the browser and the IP address for every file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the most popular files on your site. The log, that's also commonly referred to as "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics you typically get with a hosting account, not a replacement. A good example why you might need such a log is if you intend to use some software on your computer to prepare a report about the website’s overall performance, but you don't want to use the conventional graphs and tables which come with the server-generated web statistics.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
Our custom Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. Once you sign in to your website hosting
account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domains
and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you may stop it with a click from the very same section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already developed content by simply clicking the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server
account with us, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function can be activated from the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done independently for each and every domain or subdomain which you have in your account. When you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to every one of them. One click will activate the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great efficiency. A Download link inside the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, that you may then use on your computer. Even if the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
